
You might be able to get the restored to a regular front sight gas block and then mount a detachable carry handle/sight, an A2 style sight, or any one of 100 flip up sights on the flat-top receiver. I haven't done this myself, but I believe this would the the process to properly convert to a free-float rail:Īlternately, it looks like your rifle is just a normal front sight gas block that's been cut down. It might be serviceable for mounting a flashlight or something, but I wouldn't trust optics or iron sights on it.

Having one that's not actually bolted directly to the receiver with a free float rail barrel nut seems doubly iffy. But two-piece rails are kind of iffy as is.
